Lactic acid is miscible with water, alcohol and ether but is not soluble in chloroform and petroleum ether.
Uses
Lactic acid is used in the tanning industry and in the food industry to acidulate fruit juices, beer, preserves. Lactic acid is used in the synthetic resin industry to synthezise polyester resins and is also used in the pharmaceutical industry.
