Germanium is normally available in 2kg ingots.
Distributor of germanium metal
Germanium is a metalloid chemically similar to tin. Like tin, it forms a large number of organometallics compounds. Germanium is found in few rare minerals and most of it is extracted from other elements, in particular from coal and zinc.
Germanium is shiny, hard-brittle and silvery white in color.
Germanium is not soluble in water.
Elemental germanium is used as a semiconductor in transistors, its different compounds are used in optical instrumentation, fiber optics, in polymerization catalysts and in high efficiency solar panels (in Aerospace sector). Germanium is also used in gold and dental alloys.
In the environment it is not considered toxic because it is present in low concentrations. But some Germanium compounds have proven to be toxic.
Request safety data sheet (SDS) and refer to points 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13.
Technical specifications are provided on request according to the application: germanium metal is stored in original packing and under conditions mentioned on the safety data sheet (SDS).
