Description

Cobalt sulphate is one of the most commonly available salts of cobalt that react as acids to neutralize bases.

Appearance

Cobalt(II) sulfate appears as red monoclinic crystals.

Solubility

Cobalt sulphate is soluble in water and in ethyl and methyl alcohols.

Uses

Cobalt sulphate is used as a raw material for catalysts and as raw material in the chemical industry. Cobalt sulfate is widely used in electroplating industry and it is also used in the production of ceramic pigments.

Classification

Cobalt sulphate is hazardous to the environment and harmful, if swallowed; it may cause sensitisation by skin contact; may cause cancer if inhaled. Cobalt(II) sulfate is very toxic to aquatic organisms and may cause long-term effects in the aquatic environment.
