Cobalt carbonate is an inorganic compound that appears as un odourless purple powder.
Cobalt carbonate is insoluble in water and ammonia; but however soluble in acids.
Cobalt carbonate is the carbonate salt of cobalt prepared by heating cobaltous sulfate with a solution of sodium bicarbonate. This reddish paramagnetic solid is an intermediate in the hydrometallurgical purification of cobalt from its ores. It is an inorganic pigment, and a precursor to catalysts. Cobalt carbonate is used as a microelement in the zootechnical Industry, as raw material in the production of pigments and as catalysts.
Cobalt carbonate is harmful if swallowed and may cause sensitisation by inhalation and skin contact. Request safety data sheet (SDS) and refer to points 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15. Technical specifications are provided on request according to the application.
