Lithium hydroxide occurs in small colourless crystals.
Solubility
Lithium hydroxide dissolves well in water but is not very soluble in alcohol and insoluble in ether.
Uses
Lithium hydroxide is used for production of lithium salts or in the preparation of lithium soaps; as a catalyst in esterification reactions, for the preparation of alkaline batteries and in the ceramic industry.

If it comes into contact with the skin, thoroughly wash with water because lithium hydroxide is harmful and very irritating to the skin and mucous membranes.
